The Treatment Systems Manager position will plan, budget, schedule, and implement operations and maintenance activities designed to provide quality wastewater treatment service for the City. The qualified applicant will also be responsible for overseeing the analysis of wastewater, biosolids and effluent samples to provide data for the efficient operation of wastewater treatment plants. The position must have a thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to operations and maintenance activities for compliance with the city's NPDES discharge permit.
Applicants must have excellent managerial and administrative skills, as well as effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the capability of working independently with minimal direction is required.
Qualified applicants must possess a four-year degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Civil Engineering Public Administration or a closely related field. Seven years experience relating to the construction, repair, operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems or any equivalent combination of education and experience A valid Maine Drivers License is required. About the Department:
The Police Department overlooks Rockland Harbor, one of the finest shipping and recreational boating harbors on the east coast. A nearly mile-long granite breakwater protects the harbor and lighthouse. The City has a lovely restored library, health care facilities, new schools, museums and an historic Main Street which forms the core of retail shopping, not to mention the large modern outlying shopping centers. Rockland serves as the commercial center of Knox County and is also the County Seat. The Police Department has 19 full-time officers, 1 full-time clerical staff, 1 full-time parking enforcement officer and a part-time animal control officer. Some officers are assigned harbor patrol duty, bicycle patrol as well as motor patrol. The City owns a Harley Davidson which is operated by 5 officers who have completed rigorous training.
Applicant Requirements:
The Applicant must be a high school graduate, possess a valid Maine driver's license or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days after employment, and not have a criminal record that would prevent them from obtaining certification from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy(MCJA).
Candidates are required by MCJA to pass all phases of the Physical Agility Test (PAT), which is the standard physical agility test approved by MCJA. The City will administer a PAT prior to interviews. If the candidate has passed the MCJA-administered PAT within four months of the date of the City's-administered PAT, then this requirement may be waived.
