Preference will be afforded to full time certified peace officers. The Wilton Police Department will assist all applicants through the lateral process. Out of state applicants typically travel to Maine once prior to employment. Applicants must successfully pass a suitability screening, agility test, oral board screening, physical exam, and intensive background investigation. Depending on certification level, a psychological test may be required but a polygraph test is mandatory. An applicant must successfully complete a field training program, and a probationary period. Preferred qualifications: BA or BS Degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or closely related field, 10 years of fire/EMS experience with at least 5 years of supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be NH State Fire Academy Certified or certifiable within six months and have served as Chief or Deputy Chief of a comparable department. Salary: $64,000-$68,000 DOQ with residency requirement within 12-18 months.

Title: Public Works Director

Job Description:

The City of Old Town is seeking a full-time Public Works Director and is seeking candidates with demonstrated leadership abilities to direct all activities within the City's public works departments. The person in this position works under the administrative direction of the City Manager and is responsible for management, planning, organizing and directing all Public Works operations, city projects, city motor pool-fleet management, storm water management (MS4), solid waste management and recycling, cemetery operation and maintenance, park maintenance, city building operation and maintenance and City airport management and operations. In addition, the City is considering a number of options for department efficiencies as recommended by the 2010 City Services Review study that will be completed soon that may add additional responsibilities or departments under the Public Works umbrella.

Desired qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree (Civil Engineering preferred); and 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in public works management or managing public works type programs and staff; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Excellent labor management skills are a plus. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop collaborative relationships with local businesses and neighboring towns.
